The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced an internal investigation into the cause of the tragic death of a first-year student of the Aburi Girls’ Senior High School.
The service in a statement signed by the head of the public relations unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo emphasized that the school management is actively collaborating with the service and law enforcement agencies to conduct an independent investigation into the matter.
On Monday, February 5, 2024, reports from several news portals highlighted that a form 1 student of the student of the Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, Stacey Okyere, who had been complaining of intense stomach pains, tragically passed away.
She was allegedly denied medical attention by the school nurse, who reportedly accused her of feigning illness repeatedly was hurriedly taken to the hospital, but sadly, she was already deceased upon arrival.
GES further extended its commiserations to the family of the deceased.
