The Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) has launched activities to mark its 10th anniversary, using the milestone to reflect on a decade of achievements while repositioning the Bank for the future of Ghanas export sector.
Established in 2016, GEXIM was mandated to support Ghana’s transition from an exporter of raw materials to a producer and exporter of value-added goods. The anniversary therefore represents both a celebration of progress made and a strategic opportunity to reassess the Banks role in the countrys broader development agenda.
The year-long anniversary programme will feature several flagship activities, including the AGROTECH Fair 2026, which will showcase locally manufactured agricultural machinery, agro-processing technologies and industrial equipment. Other planned activities include corporate social responsibility initiatives and a high-level international conference scheduled for March 2026.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of GEXIM, Mr. Sylvester Adinam Mensah, emphasised that export-led growth is a system that requires long-term investment, effective risk-mitigation mechanisms and reliable market intelligence. He noted that GEXIM has played a critical role in strengthening Ghanas export ecosystem by supporting local enterprises to diversify exports, improve product quality and access new markets, thereby contributing to job creation and enhanced competitiveness.
The anniversary theme, A Decade of Enabling Export Trade and Industrial Transformation: Resetting GEXIM for the Next Frontier, sets the tone for discussions on the evolving global trade and export-finance landscape.
The international conference will bring together key stakeholders to examine issues such as the application of artificial intelligence in export finance, improving access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and opportunities and constraints within priority sectors, including agriculture and garments.
In addition, GEXIM is preparing to roll out a new five-year strategic plan focused on innovation, stronger partnerships and deeper collaboration to enhance Ghanas competitiveness in global markets.
Beyond commemorating past achievements, the GEXIM@10 celebration is positioned as a forward-looking initiative aimed at strengthening Ghanas industrial base and consolidating the countrys place in global trade. It serves as a call to action for stakeholders to actively participate in shaping the next phase of Ghanas export-led growth and industrial transformation.
