The sister of CF Montréal striker Prince Osei Owusu has made serious allegations against the Ghana Football Association (GFA), claiming officials demanded 70% of her brother’s earnings and salary as a condition for his inclusion in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session, she alleged that Owusu was initially named in the Black Stars’ provisional squad, but negotiations broke down after a meeting between GFA officials and the player’s father.
According to her, the 29-year-old striker, who was born in Germany to a Ghanaian father, was eager to represent Ghana instead of Germany and fulfil his dream of playing for the Black Stars on the world stage.
She further claimed that the GFA promised to provide the family with tickets to Ghana if Owusu made the squad, but only if they agreed to the alleged revenue-sharing arrangement.
Recalling her reaction after the final squad was announced, she said she was surprised not to see her brother’s name on the list.
“When I saw the Black Stars’ World Cup squad without Prince Owusu, I was shocked. I asked my uncle why he didn’t play for Ghana. That’s when they told me the GFA said they would take 70% of his earnings, leaving him with just 30%,” she alleged.
