On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) launched a National Football Philosophy dubbed “Ghana Football DNA” in Accra.
The aim of the Football ‘DNA’ is to form the basis of football development in the country.
The philosophy was put together by the Technical Directorate of the GFA with help from technocrats, past and present national and club coaches, administrators, players, referees, supporters, coach instructors, coach educators, and media personalities, among other stakeholders, following thorough research.
President of the GFA, Kurt Okraku, speaking during the launch, stated that the new initiative to come up with a plan for Ghana’s football is intended to strengthen football from the grass-roots level.
“We at the Ghana Football Association have said times without number, the fundamentals of our football need to be strengthened if we are to take our rightful place among football nations of the world,” he said.
“It is in this vain that the idea to identify the traits of our football DNA was conceived. Today marks the birth of a new baby for Ghana football. The football DNA is along tern step-by-step plan, that fosters growth and excellence in football.”
He added that: “the DNA will provide us with an identity and direction, the DNA will ensure proper pathways for our players, and here we are talking about player development. The DNA will clearly define our attractive style of play, and most importantly, it will also speak about our culture.”
