Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Friday, July 18, the minister hailed the payment as a significant achievement in Ghana’s healthcare financing journey, and a clear signal of the administration’s commitment to a reliable and responsive health system.

He emphasized that no previous administration in the history of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has released funds from the consolidated fund to the NHIS as promptly or consistently as the current government.

Highlighting the impact of the government’s efforts, the Minister revealed that in just the first half of 2025, the NHIA disbursed over GH¢1.38 billion to healthcare providers, helping to ease pressure on hospitals, clinics, and other service points.

The announcement is expected to restore confidence among NHIS service providers and the general public, especially after past years of delayed reimbursements and funding challenges
