The Ghana Air Force has officially assumed guard duties at the Jubilee House, taking over from the Navy in a symbolic Change of Guard ceremony held on Monday, April 7, 2025.
The brief but dignified event was attended by President John Dramani Mahama, who also serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. It marked his first appearance at a military ceremony since his re-election earlier this year.
The Change of Guard tradition, which was introduced in 2013 during Mahama’s earlier term in office, takes place every three months. It serves as a public display of military discipline, precision, and the seamless transition of duties among the branches of the armed forces.
Monday’s ceremony was witnessed by key government officials including the Ministers for the Interior, Defence, and Gender, as well as the National Security Advisor, the Chief of Defence Staff, and Service Commanders. Students, pupils, and members of the general public were also present, adding a touch of civic pride and national unity to the occasion.
