Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that individuals with Ghana cards will no longer have to go through long processes in applying to get a passport.
Addressing a massive crowd in Kwahu Mpraeso on Saturday, after a special Easter health walk, Dr. Bawumia said, “Today, if you want to acquire a passport, you will have to fill countless forms before you get one but if I am elected President, all these will end”.
“If you have a Ghana card, you don’t need to apply and fill out countless forms. When you take your phone, all you would be asked is your Ghana card number, pay the required amount and your passport will be printed for you because we already have your information on your Ghana card”, he explained.
The vice president added that this initiative will make acquiring a passport very easy.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on Monday, April 1, 2024, in accordance with the fees and charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations, 2023 (L.I 2481) increased fees for a standard passport for 32 pages costs from GH₵ 100 to GH₵ 500.00, while a standard application for 48 pages is GH₵644.00.
