The Ghana Chamber of Construction Industries has called for the proper interrogation of the controversial E-levy bill one after the other.
According to the President of the Chamber, Emmanuel Cherry, the constructive industry is always ready as a business partner of the economy but the nomenclature called the E-levy, even though it is being heard all the time, it has to be interrogated.
“We are looking for somewhere within this week to meet and engage further because the nomenclature called E-levy, though we hear it on air but we need to interrogate it well” he noted.
Speaking in an interview on Nkawkaw – based Obuoba FM, on Tuesday, February 8, he said, in as much as the E-levy being touted by the government will boost the infrastructure sector of the economy and bring in more investors, it has to engage the Industry players.
“As they always say, the E-levy will boost the infrastructure sector, and bring in more foreign investors, but you cannot just bring in a policy without engaging the stakeholders. The formula they adapted has failed completely”. He said.
The President’s assertions comes after the Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako Atta made a plea to the members of the Association of Road Contractors and Progressive Road Contractors to discuss stakeholders engagement with the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industries.
