Ghana’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Kojo Bonsu, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China following a high-level meeting with Wang Yong, Director General of the International Cooperation Department of China’s Ministry of Public Security.

The meeting, held in Beijing, focused on enhancing cooperation in security and public safety, particularly in the areas of institutional capacity-building, training, and technical exchanges between the two countries.

Ambassador Bonsu expressed the Ghanaian government’s appreciation for China’s long-standing support for Ghana’s socio-economic development and emphasized Ghana’s readiness to expand collaboration in emerging areas of mutual interest.

Discussions during the engagement centered on strengthening Ghana’s security and law enforcement institutions through capacity-building initiatives, as well as facilitating training and technical exchange programmes in policing, cybersecurity, and crime prevention.

Both sides also explored ways to improve the exchange of best practices and intelligence-sharing mechanisms to effectively address transnational crimes and emerging security threats.

The two officials underscored the importance of sustained dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect for sovereignty in advancing shared interests, including peacekeeping, counterterrorism, and the protection of citizens.

The engagement was described as a practical step toward deepening Ghana–China cooperation in both security and development, reinforcing a shared vision for a safer and more prosperous future.

The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of goodwill and a commitment to translate the discussions into concrete programmes and joint initiatives in the coming months, further strengthening the Ghana–China partnership built on mutual respect, solidarity, and shared prosperity.
