Pro Vice-Chancellor and the Head of the Industrial Liaison Office at GCTU have visited the Google Ghana Office as a preliminary step to exploring educational partnerships with the global technology giant.
Professor Robert E. Hinson, the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Mr. Ahmed Antwi-Boampong were received by Mr, Kwaku Agbesi, the Head of Strategic Partnerships.
Receiving the team from GCTU, Mr, Kwaku Agbesi, the Head of Strategic Partnerships, SSA at Google expressed his delight at the visit and welcomed the GCTU Team. He intimated that he would speak to his other Google colleagues and schedule a most appropriate time for a meeting between the two institutions. Mr. Agbesi led the GCTU Team on a tour of Google Ghana and committed to reverting to GCTU on an appropriate formal meeting time in the future.
Google has big plans for Africa Africa with innovations like the Google Accelerator Programme which is a three-month virtual accelerator program for high potential Seed to Series A tech startups based in Africa. The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa accepts applications from startups located in Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Côte D’ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe (https://startup.google.com/accelerator/africa/).
Google also has plans for education in Africa and the Ghana Communication Technology University’s mandate to deliver information technology related courses makes them a good potential partner for Google in Africa.
