Speaking at the media launch on March 4, 2024, at the Accra Tourist Information Center in Accra, the Executive Director for the National Commission on Culture and the Chairperson for the Ghana Culture Forum, Nana Otuo  Owoahene Acheampong, emphasized that the theme combines the notion of preparing the Ghanaian cultural ecosystem for Africa’s renaissance agenda with the emphasis on shifting from lip- service to action based initiatives.

“Cultivating Cultural Capital underscores the strategic and business-oriented approach to leveraging Ghana’s rich cultural heritage for the benefit of its people and the broader African renaissance. It signifies a commitment to transformative actions that will strengthen and preserve the cultural foundation, ensuring its vitality for generations to come,” he stated.

He further emphasized that the theme aims to encourage proactive action in nurturing Ghana’s cultural capital however, can serve as a powerful catalyst for national pride, social cohesion and a thriving future within Ghana.

Nana Otuoo alluded that, the key feature of the week-long celebration of the Ghana Culture Week is the Ghana Culture Day symposium and Presentation of the Africa Fashion Report which will be held on March 14  at the Omanye Aba Hall, AMA complex, Accra.

According to him,  fashion is key in all endeavours because it gives individuals the identity of who they are and where they are from and there is a need to educate the public about it.

“The African Fashion Report presentation is geared towards raising awareness and to push the agenda of our culture being a Friday wear to a normal day wear”, he added.
