Ghana delegation meets WTO chief in Geneva to advance inclusive trade agenda

A Ghanaian delegation participating in meetings of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has paid a courtesy call on the Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as part of efforts to deepen engagement on global trade issues.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of WTO sessions held in Geneva from April 27 to 30, 2026, where Ghana joined other member states to deliberate on key developments in the multilateral trading system.

The delegation was led by the Executive Secretary of the Ghana International Trade Commission, Ms. Mavis Afia-Adjei Naana, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Finance and Administration) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Mr. Musah Sibiri Hamidu.

During the engagement, the Ghanaian representatives expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interact with the WTO leadership and exchange views on advancing inclusive global trade.

They emphasized Ghana’s commitment to constructive dialogue and active participation in shaping a fair, transparent, and inclusive international trading system.

The discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between developing countries and global institutions to ensure equitable trade outcomes and sustainable economic growth.

The delegation also included officials from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Ghana’s Mission in Geneva, as well as other representatives from the GITC and GFZA.
