The Senior National team, the Black Stars, has been drawn into Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama during the FIFA World Cup Draw.
The draw took place on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Washington DC, United States of America, with President Donald Trump in attendance.
According to the arrangements, the 48 participating teams were divided into four pots of 12, primarily based on FIFA world rankings.
Exceptions included the automatic placement of the three host teams in pot one and the teams qualifying through the six play-off paths, which were placed in pot four.
The team is expected to play its first game against England which would be their first game in the history of the World Cup.
England won their only title in 1966 and have since been consistent qualifiers, reaching the semi-finals in 1990 and 2018.
Croatia has a strong record, finishing third in 1998 and 2022, and second in 2018.
Panama made their World Cup debut in 2018, losing all three group stage matches.
The Black Stars have participated in the FIFA World Cup four times: 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.
2026 would mark the country’s fifth appearance.
The country’s best performance was in 2010 in South Africa, where they reached the Quarter-finals, becoming only the third African team to achieve this feat. They were eliminated by Uruguay in a penalty shootout.
