Former President John Dramani Mahama has said that Ghana for the past six years has not seen any significant progress.
He said this during his campaign tour at Dormaa East in the Bono Region on Monday, March 13, 2023, as he interacted with delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of their presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023, to elect a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates for the 2024 elections.
According to him, people’s lives were better, with their businesses flourishing six years ago, as compared to today.
“In the last years, everything has gone back. Looking into your life, you will attest to this and I will not be the one to tell you.
“You do not make any profit on your businesses but tax collectors are after you to pay taxes. How do you pay taxes if your work does not bring any profit,” he asked.
He added that people’s lives were better in 2016 because people were able to make a profit from their businesses to take care of their families but things have worsened today and that is why Ghanaians are calling on NDC to come and save Ghana.
“I remember in 2016, everybody was making some profit that helped them support their families but today, things have gone bad and this is why Ghanaians are calling on us to come and save them because governance has now turned into family and friends with corruption being the order of the day.”
