Ghana has highlighted the importance of strong institutions, transparency, and accountability in managing natural resources at the 6th edition of the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit and Exhibition (SEOGS 2026) held in Paramaribo, Suriname.
The Deputy Minister for Energy, Richard Gyan, represented the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, at the international energy event, where he participated as a panelist during the Ministerial Plenary on the theme: “Energy as a Driver of National Transformation.”
Mr. Gyan shared Ghana’s experience in the oil and gas sector, reflecting on the country’s journey after 16 years of petroleum production and emphasising the need to establish robust institutions before the full impact of resource revenues is realised.
He noted that Ghana’s oil sector experience demonstrates that sustainable resource management depends on effective governance systems, transparency, accountability, and prudent management of petroleum revenues.
The summit brought together key stakeholders in the global energy industry to discuss opportunities, challenges, and strategies for leveraging energy resources to support national development
