President John Dramani Mahama has warmly welcomed a high-powered delegation from the World Chinese Business Advancement Association (WCBAA) at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The meeting, held on June 23, 2025, brought together influential Chinese entrepreneurs and marked a significant moment in strengthening Sino-Ghanaian ties across trade, culture, and development.

The delegation, led by WCBAA Chairman Li Nonghe, included notable business figures such as Fan Yurong, Chairman of the Beijing Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce; Lin Duansheng of Oriental Grandeur Group; Chen Zhixiang, President of the Asia Unification Promotion Association; and Lin Ruibin, WCBAA Overseas Secretary-General and Asia Regional General Manager of Alpha Synergy Energy Co., Ltd.

Welcoming the delegation, President Mahama reminisced about his first meeting with Chairman Li in Dubai in 2022. “At that time, I was relatively unknown. Mr. Li welcomed me warmly and appointed me Honorary Chairman of the Association,” he recounted. “I told him then that I would be elected President in the next term. That vision has now been fulfilled.”

Chairman Li, in turn, congratulated President Mahama on his re-election, explaining that the Association had hoped to attend the presidential inauguration but was unable to due to a major international conference.

“We bring you our heartfelt blessings and the best wishes from Chinese entrepreneurs,” he said.

One of the highlights of the visit was a major cultural gesture from Zhejiang Zhongnan Group, which donated five-year broadcasting rights for the 500-episode animated television series Tianyan (Magic Eye is Back) to the Republic of Ghana. Co-produced with China Central Television (CCTV), the series is expected to enrich local programming and deepen cultural ties.

The official handover was presided over by Professor Amin Alhassan, Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), who described the donation as a meaningful symbol of cultural diplomacy between Ghana and China.

In addition to the media donation, the delegation also delivered a consignment of pharmaceuticals valued at $1 million from Jiangsu Pacific Monocle Pharmaceutical Group. The medical supplies, designated for the Ghanaian Elderly Security Fund, will target specific health conditions among the aged.

President Mahama expressed his deep appreciation for the gesture, acknowledging the importance of international partnerships in strengthening national healthcare.

The delegation held working sessions with Ghanaian officials and business leaders, focusing on potential collaborations in renewable energy, electric vehicle manufacturing, mineral investment, infrastructure development, real estate, healthcare, and environmental solutions.

While no formal memoranda were signed during the visit, implementation efforts reportedly began as soon as the delegation returned to Hong Kong.

Prominent members of the Chinese-Ghanaian business community played a key role in supporting the visit. Among them were Xu Ningquan, a long-time investor and traditional titleholder known for his operations in oil refining and steel manufacturing; Duan Dezhi, Chairman of Huashan International Group, a global construction powerhouse; and Tang Hong, President of the Ghana Federation of Chinese Associations and Chairman of the Tang Palace Hotel.

The visit was widely seen as a success, blending high-level diplomacy, philanthropy, and practical business engagement.

It also reaffirmed the strategic importance of China-Ghana cooperation in a changing global economic landscape.
