The Minister of Transport Kweku Ofori Asiamah has disclosed in Parliament that Ghana Airports Company (GACL) recorded a total of 403,439 international passenger traffic to the country between September 2020 and July 2021.

While the total number of international passenger traffic from September 2020 to December 2020 was 102,618, the Minister said the country recorded 300,821 international passenger traffic from January 2021 to July 2021.

The Minister made these disclosures on the floor of the House on Thruways July 05, when he appeared in Parliament to answer an urgent Parliamentary question.

The question stood in the name of the Majority Leader in Parliament and the MP for Tamale South Hon. Haruna Iddrisu who asked to know the number of international passenger traffic to Ghana between September and December 2020 and January to July 2021.

Kweku Ofori Asiamah answering the question gave the breakdown as 18,316 for September, 25,410 for October, 23,238 for November and 35,654 December.

He further disclosed that international passenger traffic in 2021 was 39,132 for January, 28,356 in February, 36,796 in March and 37,552 for April 2021 while the months of May, June and July 2021 recorded 43,442, 52,086 and 63,437 passenger traffics respectively.

The Transport Minister could, however, not tell the House the various age groups of the international passenger traffic and similarly failed to apprise the House of the breakdown of holders of Ghanaian Passport, ECOWAS Passports or other foreign Passport holders that arrived in Ghana within the period.
