The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has introduced a digital system to improve efficiency in its operations, particularly in the upcoming 2025/26 Caterer Procurement process.
Developed by Virtual Solutions, the software was officially presented to the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, on Tuesday, March 24, 2025, for her review and input.
The system is designed to streamline the caterer procurement process, track feeding activities, enhance data collection at the school level, ensure timely payments to caterers, and facilitate dispute resolution.
By digitizing these processes, GSFP aims to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce payment delays, and enable real-time monitoring of meal distribution in beneficiary schools.
During the software demonstration, Dr. Lartey commended the GSFP team and the developers for their efforts, emphasizing the system’s potential to strengthen oversight and improve service delivery.
She added that the adoption of technology would help address longstanding challenges, including inconsistent food supply and delays in caterer payments.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the initiative, the Minister assured that the GSFP would continue to provide nutritious meals to schoolchildren in a timely and uninterrupted manner.
The digital system is funded by the Government of Ghana and the World Food Programme (WFP) as part of efforts to enhance transparency, fairness in caterer selection, and overall programme effectiveness.
