The Global Food Banking Network (GFN) is set to organize the 2024 edition of the Africa Food Bank Conference in Accra, Ghana.
GFN is an organization which supports community-led solutions to alleviate hunger in over 50 countries and help persons who struggle to access safe and nutritious food.
The conference which would be held in Ghana for the first time is expected to bring together individuals from various food banks across Africa to discuss challenges facing food banks, learn new ways to sustain food banks and welcome other members to the Africa Food Bank community.
In an attempt to combat hunger, the conference will focus on Global Perspective to gain insights into global trends, innovations, and successful strategies implemented by food banks worldwide, address regional Challenges and Solutions which will help the various food banks be food secured.
The conference will also engage communities to explore strategies, empower volunteers, and create awareness about food banking in Africa.
Announcing Ghana as the host, the Senior Director, Knowledge Sharing and Field Services at GFN, Anthony Kitchen in a statement said “We believe that this conference will catalyse positive change and contribute significantly to our ongoing efforts to ensure no one goes to bed hungry in Africa”.
As West Africa’s largest food bank and one of the organizers of the conference, Food for All Africa is a non-governmental organization that seeks to create efficient and sustainable means of nutrition through food banking, diversity of long-term social development, awareness campaigns and implementation of educational and feeding programs to prevent food wastage in the sub-region.
The conference will commence on Monday January 29 and end on Thursday February 1, 2024.
