The Founder and Interim Leader of the United Party (UP), Alan Kyerematen, has pledged to transform Ghana into an economic “paradise” by 2040 should his party secure the mandate to govern the country in the 2028 general elections.

During the party’s official launch, the former Minister for Trade and Industry, who recently separated from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), characterized the UP as a broad-based centrist party. Its core mission, he stated, is to foster a united Ghana and accelerate the nation’s economic and social transformation by mobilizing the collective strengths and talents of all citizens.

The politician and lawyer further outlined the UP’s mission: to build a united, peaceful, secure, and prosperous country that provides equal opportunity for all Ghanaians to realise their full potential, with a particular focus on the youth, women, and other vulnerable groups.

He stated further that the soul and strength of UP is anchored on the core values as follows

Promoting integrity and ethical leadership at all levels of national endeavour.

Introducing a culture of Discipline in all aspects of national life.

Enforcing law and order and respect for the Rule of Law

Promoting Meritocracy, good work ethics and a passion for Excellence

Ensuring tolerance for diversity of opinions, and introducing decency in public discourse

Instilling patriotism among Ghanaians, and promoting at all times, the strategic interests of Ghana, over and above political individual interests.

Unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit of the Ghanaian.

Promoting free speech and freedom of association.

Fighting against dictatorship, oppression and subversion of human rights.

Promoting cultural values and tradition.
