A Ghanaian citizen who travelled to Russia to serve in the military has reportedly been k!lled on the frontlines of the Russia-Ukraine war.

The demise of the young man identified as Kofi George was shared in an emotional Facebook tribute by his close friend and popular content creator Kofi Gharbin on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Gharbin recounted their last conversation, two years ago, when he had encouraged Kofi not to be frustrated after returning to Ghana from Canada.

His d€ath is not an isolated tr+gedy as Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa recently confirmed that at least 55 Ghanaians have been k!lled f!ghting for Russia since 2022, with 272 drawn into the war.

Many of them were reportedly lured through d+ceptive recruitment schemes that promised jobs but delivered c+mbat.

“This is not our w+r, and we cannot allow our youth to become human shields for others,” the minister said.
