The Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West constituency of the Greater Accra region and Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful has pleaded with Ghanaians to retain incumbent Members of Parliament seeking re-elections in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries.

Expressing her displeasure on the 18 NPP Members of Parliament including the majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu bowing out from the next parliament, the minister noted that even though new faces are needed in parliament for fresh ideas, there is a need for them to learn a thing or two from the experienced and incumbent ones.

She stressed that with some NDC MPs also not seeking re-election, parliamentary proceedings will be affected citing the Majority leader’s exit as an example who has been in parliament for over two decades.

“All incumbent MPs cannot bow out for fresh faces”, she added.

Ursula Owusu is therefore pleading with Ghanaians to retain incumbent MPs adding that Ghanaians need to consider their long stay in parliament as the house needs experienced MPs to smoothly run its affairs.

Commenting on the low number of female lawmakers present in the house, Madam Ursula Owusu also encourages women to come forward to change the trend of males dominating the political landscape in the country.
