Ghana’s economy grew 6.0 percent in 2025, according to provisional full-year data released today by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), with services and digital sectors driving the bulk of expansion and momentum accelerating in the final quarter.
Real gross domestic product rose to approximately GH¢209.6 billion from GH¢197.9 billion in 2024, reflecting steady and broad-based growth. The fourth quarter posted 5.8 percent growth, up from 4.0 percent in the same period of 2024. Non-oil GDP grew 7.1 percent in the quarter, confirming that the recovery was driven largely by sectors outside oil and gas.
Services remained the economy’s dominant engine, expanding 8.1 percent for the full year and accounting for 58.2 percent of total GDP growth. The sector makes up 45.9 percent of the economy. In the fourth quarter alone, services grew 8.6 percent and contributed 63.4 percent of overall growth.
The fastest-growing segment was information and communication, which expanded 20.2 percent over the year, reflecting rising activity in telecommunications, digital services and data usage. The sector was also the single largest contributor to GDP growth, accounting for 23.7 percent of the total expansion.
Agriculture posted a notable rebound, growing 6.8 percent in 2025 compared to 2.7 percent the previous year, supported by stronger crop output, fishing and a recovery in cocoa production. The sector accounted for 22.8 percent of GDP. Industry, however, slowed to 2.3 percent growth from 7.2 percent in 2024, weighed down by a contraction in oil and gas output. The sector made up 31.3 percent of the economy.
Monthly data underscored the year-end acceleration. The Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth rose 10.1 percent year-on-year in December, with services leading at 12.9 percent.
GDP per capita rose to GH¢42,501 in 2025 from GH¢35,834 in 2024, though officials noted national averages may not capture income distribution across households. Sectors that recorded contractions during the year included forestry and logging, real estate and oil-related activities.
