Gideon Boako diverted fertilizers meant for farmers – Tano North NPP Member

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tano North Constituency, Yeboah Victor Mensah, has accused the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. Gideon Boako, of diverting government-supplied fertilizer meant for farmers ahead of the 2024 general election.

In a statement issued in Duayaw Nkwanta, Mr. Mensah alleged that Dr. Boako and some constituency executives conspired to sell about 70 percent of the fertilizer allocated to farmers to private stores in Sunyani and Techimantia, depriving local farmers of the support intended for them.

According to Mr. Mensah, “Dr. Boako should explain to the polling station executives and coordinators why he treated the poor farmers inhumanely, benefiting himself and a few constituency executives while denying others their share.”

He further claimed that about 5,000 bags of fertilizer were allegedly loaded away in a Kia truck driven by one Sarfo Prince from the Kye Nimako warehouse in Susuanho.

Mr. Mensah described the MP’s recent comments on fertilizer distribution as “lies and fabrications,” arguing that it was hypocritical for Dr. Boako to accuse others of wrongdoing when he himself was allegedly involved in similar activities.

He also criticized the MP for what he described as neglect of key development projects in the constituency, citing the poor state of the Bomaa town roads, Bomaa–Duayaw Nkwanta road, Bomaa–Yamfo road, Bomaa–Tepa road, and the Yamfo AstroTurf, which he said remain incomplete.

Mr. Mensah urged Dr. Boako to focus on addressing the constituency’s developmental challenges instead of engaging in what he termed “politics of propaganda and selfishness.”

Touching on the NPP’s 2024 electoral performance, he called for unity and visionary leadership within the party, suggesting that the party needed a “young entrepreneur with vision for the youth and grassroots” to restore its image after the 2024 defeat.

He questioned the effectiveness of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 campaign, asking what message the NPP flagbearer presented to Ghanaians “apart from digitization and the ‘Signal is Strong’ slogan.”

Mr. Mensah emphasized that the NPP’s return to power in 2028 would depend on integrity, fairness, and leadership capable of unifying the party and energizing its base.
