Madam Gloria Essandoh (Esq.), the Director of Prisons in charge of Health, has been honored as the Outstanding Prisons Service Female Personality in the Security Services category at the prestigious Ghana Women Awards 2024.
The ceremony was held at the Accra International Conference Centre under the theme, “Celebrating Womanhood: A Key Element for National Development”.
Organized by Brein Consult and TV3 in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Ghana Women Awards aim to identify and celebrate women who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields.
This year, 25 exceptional women from various sectors were recognized, including four other female officers from the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division).
Madam Essandoh, with 29 years of experience in Corrections Management, has held numerous leadership roles within the Ghana Prisons Service.
Her service includes positions such as Second-in-Command/Staff Officer at the defunct James Fort Female Prisons, Adjutant at the Prison Officers Training School, and Chief Legal Officer of the Prisons Service before her current role as Director of Prisons in charge of Health.
In addition to her national contributions, Madam Essandoh has also worked internationally with the United Nations Mission as a Correctional Advisor and Policy Planning Officer.
She is an alumna of Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School, where her journey of excellence began.
