The Executive Director of Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), Mr. Enoch Kwasi Gyetuah has ended a four-day tour of the northern regions to discuss ways on improving private education in the region.
The tour which was organized by Opportunity International and USAID LCPS Project in the north was an opportunity to address key issues in private education across the northern part of Ghana.
Mr. Gyetuah’s tour gave him the opportunity to engage in constructive discussions with the regional directorates of education. He also visited Walewala at the North East Regional Directorate of Education, Bolgatanga, Tamale, and Wa, where he was warmly received by the respective Regional Directors.
The discussions during the tour revolved around crucial topics that are vital to the growth and quality of private education in the northern regions.
The primary issues addressed included improving private school teacher certification and retention, strengthening the capability of private school owners, teacher in-service training and recognizing the significance of continuing professional development.
The other things discussed are policy regulation and guidelines for private education addressing the need for comprehensive policies to create an enabling environment for private education, seeking financial support systems and sustainability programs for low-cost private schools and collaborating and supervising channels for private education stakeholders.
The tour demonstrated a strong commitment to improving private education in the northern regions aimed at contributing to the development and advancement same by benefiting both students and the education system as a whole.
“We believe that with these continued efforts and partnerships, private education in the northern regions of Ghana is poised to thrive, offering better opportunities for the region’s students,” he stated.
