Personnel of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have commended the acting Chief Fire Officer (CFO), DCFO Julius Kuunuor Aalebkure for bringing back the spirit of the service within his first 90 days at work.
According to personnel, DCFO Aalebkure within the first 90 days in office organized training courses for personnel who have worked for many years and were due for promotion but were ignored by previous chief fire officers.
“While some personnel have completed their training courses and duly promoted, the last batch just reported to training school last Sunday, January 9, 2022,” the personnel stated.
For the first time in the history of the service the acting chief fire officer has cleared all backlog of officers due for promotions, elevating officers from Station Officer I to Assistant Divisional Officer II (ADO II), those in ADO I to Divisional Officer III (DO III), from DO III to DO II, DO II to DO I and from DO I to Assistant Chief Fire Officer respectively.
“The promotion alone has lessened the tension and pain officers were habouring against the service and brings back the spirit of the force as personnel now feel relieved as their many years of service have been rewarded,” they revealed.
Some personnel who spoke on condition of anonymity said the good work of the acting chief fire saw massive transformation at the headquarters in term of asphalting the grounds, painting the offices and walls and mending cracks.
Personnel say for the first time in the history of the service, officers who were promoted to the various ranks were given certain accoutrements to work with.
These tools are Wellighton boot, safety helmet, bags, safety overalls and certificates as testament of promotion.
Again, the personnel also commended DCFO Aalebkure for promoting Station Officer I Robert Amoako of the Tema Region who became visually impaired in line of duty alongside with his colleagues to ADO II.
Complementing the praise, personnel say the acting chief fire officer has started the construction of a hostel facility at the training school in Accra to accommodate fire men who will be admitted to the school.
“We are solidly behind the old man and praying that he will be focused on his vision for the service and want him to draw an action plan for the year to ensure that the service will come into a limelight,” they stated.
