The Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has on yesterday sworn-in the newly constituted Board and Management of the Ghana National Procurement Company Limited (GNPCL).

This was a brief ceremony at the Ministry’s conference room where the Minister basically proposed a reorientation of the company’s mandate to promote Made-in-Ghana and leverage on the numerous advantages of the AfCFTA agreement.

The Minister, when he inaugurated the seven-member Board of the Company under the Chairmanship of a former Upper East Regional Minister, Alhassan Samari. Mr. Samari who is also a Tax Policy Planning and Administration Consultant, tasked them to revive the activities of the company.

He also charged the Board to endeavour in becoming an export hub by being the leading export company for Made-in-Ghana goods since the Ghana Export Promotion Authority is not a commercial entity.

However, he cautioned that in doing so, they should not lose sight of the vast domestic market that has developed a great taste for locally manufactured products.

Other members of the Board include the Chief Executive, Dr Edward N.Y. Ofori-Kuragu who is a tourism and hospitality expert with over 20 years’ experience; Charles Kweku Hammond, an Advertising and Marketing consultant.

The rest are Hon. Philip Basoah, Dr. Joseph Kofi Nkuah, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hamid and Mr. Mohammed Hon. Abass Ridwan Dauda.

The Board Chairman, in his closing remarks thanked the President and the Minister for the confidence reposed in them and assured the Minister on behalf of his members, that they were going to do their best to overturn the fortunes of the company for the better.
