The GoldBoard Technical Committee, under the leadership of Mr. Sammy Gyamfi Esq., Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), met with the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, on Monday, February 10, 2025, to discuss the establishment of the GoldBoard.
During the meeting, Mr. Gyamfi presented a comprehensive policy framework aimed at creating the GoldBoard, an entity designed to enhance the regulation of Ghana’s gold industry.
He emphasized the committee’s commitment to working with key stakeholders to develop a legislative bill for its establishment.
Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening the country’s natural resource management.
He affirmed that the GoldBoard, a vision championed by the current administration, “is here to stay.”
According to the minister, the establishment of the GoldBoard aligns with the government’s broader strategy to regulate the gold sector, stabilize the cedi, and maximize revenue from gold exports.
The initiative is expected to bring greater transparency, efficiency, and profitability to Ghana’s gold industry, reinforcing the country’s position as a key player in global gold markets.
The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson on Monday, January 27, 2025, inaugurated the Technical Committee to spearhead reforms in Ghana’s gold sector.
The committee is tasked with drafting a legal framework and developing an operational structure for the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board, commonly referred to as GoldBod.
