GoldBod has signed a GH¢8.4 million agreement with Ghana Water Limited (GWL) to rehabilitate three major water treatment plants currently facing severe operational challenges.

The deal will fund immediate repair works at the Bonsa, Daboase, and Sekyere Heman Water Supply Systems, which serve critical areas across the Western and Central regions.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., explained that the company’s board approved the funding following a rigorous, independent technical assessment of the facilities.

He noted that the intervention aligns with GoldBod’s core commitment to responsible mining, environmental sustainability, and tangible social investments that directly improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians.

On his part, the Managing Director of GWL, Adam Mutawakilu, expressed gratitude for the financial support, describing it as a timely intervention.

He emphasized that the rehabilitation works will significantly restore declining water production capacity and drastically improve daily service delivery to the affected communities, which have endured water supply disruptions for years.

The partnership marks a major collaborative step between the mining firm and the state utility provider to secure public infrastructure while mitigating environmental pressures on vital water bodies.
