The Police Service and the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) have launched a manhunt for four individuals alleged to be involved in illegal gold smuggling operations.
The suspects have been identified as Abdul Karim, Sadique Abubakar, Muhammed Afsal Puth Puthalan, and Muhammed Nandoli Rafeeq.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, the four are part of a group of seven people linked to the illicit trade.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, September 16, he revealed that three of the suspects have already been arrested and are in the custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
Mr. Gyamfi further announced that a bounty of one million Ghana cedis has been placed on each of the remaining four suspects.
“We have an arrest warrant for all of them; they are wanted by the police and the GoldBod.
If you have any information about them, you can report to the nearest police station or the GoldBod head office. We have a bounty of GHC1 million on each of them,” he stated
