The Public Relations Officer for the aggrieved customers of Menzgold, Mr. Fred Forson has described government’s inability to take over Menzgold decision to repay affected customers by itself as disturbing.
According to Mr. Forson, the government must take over or still, mediate between the lines to ensure that there’s transparency and accountability in the process.
“Yesterday, we saw some names in their list and we doubt if such persons are customers. In fact, yesterday, some persons who work at zylofon on our platform told us some names in the list were workers in Zylofon. So this is the statistics and that’s why we’ve the very strategic and keen on government taking over the repayment process”.
His comments comes after the Menzgold Ghana issued an immediate presser on Monday, December 19, 2021 to recommence the payment to its affected creditors.
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Koranteng on Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic FM, Mr. Forson opined that, the aggrieved customers compiled list recorded from Menzgold release captured 181 affected persons in the list, whiles it has officially presented an initial list of nine thousand people to the Parliament as a customers group, but their checks revealed that, out of the nine thousand people, only 18 people from their association were captured from the list, representing 9.9%.
According to him, coalition of the aggrieved customers has about ten thousand, three hundred (10, 300) customers. He revealed that, the 18 persons captured in the list are persons who are going to be paid below Gh20,000 cedis.
He stated that, out of the 18 persons, over 50% Menzgold would pay is around Gh4,000 cedis each.
