The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has facilitated a United Kingdom visa for Suzy Adwoa Pinamang, the young girl who suffered a gunshot injury to her eye after a tragic incident involving a classmate.
In addition to her travel documents, visas have also been granted for two caregivers who will accompany her to the UK for medical treatment.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, May 8, 2025. He noted that the Ghana High Commission in London has been directed to provide full consular support to Suzy and her caregivers throughout their stay.
Mr. Ablakwa expressed deep appreciation to Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama for generously funding the entire cost of Suzy’s treatment abroad.
He also extended thanks to the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, for her role in expediting the visa process.
The Minister acknowledged the efforts of Bantama MP, Francis Asenso-Boakye, for initially drawing Suzy’s case to the attention of the Foreign Ministry.
“This is a clear example of what we can achieve when we collaborate across party and professional lines for a common good,” Mr. Ablakwa stated. “To Suzy, I say—stay strong. You are not alone. You are a fighter and a winner.”
