The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has commissioned a 40-bed Ultra-Modern Hospital for the people of Aburi under the management of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

Construction of the Presbyterian Hospital Kom-Aburi began in 2019 to the Kom Presbyterian Clinic.

The Hospital form part of the government’s €40-million district hospitals project aimed at accelerating Ghana’s efforts at attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Kom Presbyterian Hospital is designed with several departments including administration, outpatient and emergency, inpatient wards, obstetrics and gynaecology, pharmacy, diagnostic services, and logistics.

Commissioning the Hospital on behalf of the President, the minister for health, Kwaku Agyamang-Manu revealed that the Hospital along with other facilities at Kibi, Atibie and Akuapem Mampong were constructed by the Contracta Costruzioni Italia for €40,000,000.00 and funded by a bank in Italy through the finance ministry.

According to him, the project scope includes a one-year post-completion maintenance and training and therefore urged the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) to liaise with the contractor’s maintenance team to effectively maintain the hospital.

The 40-bed facility will provide all services offered by a modern hospital, such as surgery, in-patient and out-patient, laboratory, paediatric, maternal and neonatal services.

Others include accident and emergency, mortuary, pharmacy, mental health and dental services.
