The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared Wednesday, May 27, 2026, as a statutory public holiday across Ghana in celebration of Eid-ul-Adha.

In a press release issued on Friday, May 15, 2026, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), advised the general public to observe the day as a national holiday.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is an important Islamic holiday celebrated worldwide to honour the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
