A Special Committee set up by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has upheld 1,201 public sector appointments while revoking 541 others made after the December 7, 2024 general elections.
The review examined recruitments undertaken during the transition period under the administration of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, following the earlier cancellation of 2,080 appointments over concerns that established civil service recruitment procedures had been bypassed.
Notably, 338 appointments involving persons with disabilities were maintained after the committee found that they complied fully with due process requirements.
Speaking on the outcome, Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that the review was not politically motivated but aimed at reinforcing due process, accountability, and good governance within the public service.
