The Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has said the Government’s nationwide affordable housing project is on course.
He explained that 2,803 affordable housing units at Borteyman, Asokore- Mampong and Kpone have been completed with 4,500 acres of land earmarked for affordable housing construction in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions under the National Housing Programme.
During his turn at the Ministry press briefing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye said Government is committed to complete all existing and stalled housing projects. He indicated that State Housing Company Limited has commenced works to complete 686 stalled affordable housing units at Koforidua, Tamale and Wa.
On the stalled Saglemi Housing Project, the Minister said Government is still pursuing all available options for its completion.
The Minister also disclosed that the Ministry of Works and Housing is partnering the Ministry of Finance to scale up funding under the National Housing Mortgage Fund and also taking steps to establish the Ghana Housing Authority to lead the supply side of the housing market.
He said the Ghana Housing Authority will be in charge of developing, planning and managing housing development ad also complement the activities of the National Housing Mortgage Fund.
