Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor has revealed that the government has signed a $2 billion agreement with the Jubilee Partners to reduce gas prices and boost domestic gas consumption.

He disclosed this during Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang’s visit to the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition on Monday, January 27, 2026.

He explained that the agreement received cabinet approval and will be presented before Parliament for consideration.

The minister added that it has entered into another major agreement with the Sankofa Partners to further strengthen Ghana’s energy sector.

He stated that these agreements form part of the government’s broader efforts to stabilise energy supply, lower production costs, and enhance oil and gas output in the country.

“We have also signed a 2 billion dollar agreement, which the cabinet has approved, and we are taking it to Parliament. It will reduce our gas price from $3.1 to $2.5. It will increase our gas consumption and increase crude oil production,” Mr Jinapor said.

“We have also signed another $1.5 billion with Sankofa partners, and that is expected to increase gas, reduce price, and increase production,” he added.
