Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has announced that the government will sign 31 major road and bridge construction contracts by the end of August 2025, as part of a renewed push to accelerate national infrastructure development.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, July 31, Agbodza said commencement certificates for all projects have already been secured, and the procurement process is ongoing to select contractors for immediate mobilisation to sites.
He stated that each contract will span 24 months, from initiation to completion, and will include strict clauses to prevent unnecessary delays. Contractors will be required to work around the clock, and any project that stalls for more than two months without valid justification will be terminated immediately.
“These new contracts are different,” Agbodza stressed. “We’re not going to tolerate excuses. If you delay beyond three months without cause, the contract ends—no further notice.”
Among the projects slated for rollout are key national roads such as the Kumasi Outer Ring Road (Eastern Quadrant), Winneba–Mankessim dualisation, Tema–Aflao Road rehabilitation, and the Enchi–Elubo Road construction.
The initiative, which covers all regions, reflects the government’s focus on transparency, speed, and results in road infrastructure delivery.
