The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced plans to reintroduce road and bridge tolls as part of efforts to generate revenue for road maintenance and infrastructure development.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, the new toll collection system will be technologically driven, aiming to improve efficiency and address previous challenges associated with tolling.
To ensure transparency and fairness, the Ministry has pledged to adopt an open, competitive, and cost-effective procurement process in selecting service providers for the toll collection system.
“The Ministry wishes to assure the public of its commitment to introducing a modernized system that addresses the current tolling and road maintenance funding challenges of the country,” said Nasir Ahmadyartey, Head of the Public Relations Unit.
