Hearts of Oak showed resilience and character to secure a 2-1 away win against Young Apostles, with Hamza Issah scoring the decisive goal just two minutes after conceding an equalizer.
The Phobians’ second victory of the season came through sheer determination. Emmanuel Amankwah, stepping in for the suspended Ransford Mensah, fired Hearts into the lead in the 50th minute.
The game seemed under control until the 84th minute when Young Apostles’ Prempeh pulled off a stunning overhead kick that left goalkeeper Asare helpless, leveling the match at 1-1.
However, the joy of the equalizer was short-lived for the home side, as Hearts responded almost instantly. Hamza Issah capitalized on a perfect assist from Saani Mohammed to slot home a classic striker’s goal in the 86th minute, sealing the win and silencing the Wenchi crowd.
Coach Ouattara praised Saani’s contribution after the match, saying, “I know what he is capable of doing, that’s why I kept him in the game.” He also highlighted the team’s focus on building consistency, stating, “We are working on consistency, and we believe that gradually, we will gel.”
The man of the match emphasized the team’s determination: “We never underrated Young Apostles. Our aim was to come here and take all three points back home.”
This road victory offers a major confidence boost to Hearts of Oak, who are now showing signs of growing cohesion under Coach Ouattara. With two wins already, the Phobians are setting their sights firmly on building momentum for the season ahead.
Team Hearts will meet Dreams FC in another away encounter in matchday 7.
