Kumasi Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in the betPawa Premier League by Legon Cities, Thurday afternoon.
Legon Cities came close to taking the lead in the early parts of the first half, but Suleman Mohammed’s effort struck the goalpost.
Kotoko however were awarded a penalty on the 15th minute, after a handball incident in the Legon Cities 18-yard box.
Captain Richard Boadu stepped up to beautifully place the ball at the back of the net, to give Kotoko the lead.
The Porcupine Warriors protected their lead in the first 45 minutes, after the home team kept pushing for the equalizer.
Second half started with Kotoko looking to double their lead, with Matheus De Suza almost scoring on the 57th minute, following a defensive error from Legon Cities but goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey produced a fine save to deny Kotoko.
The home team showed much resilience, and got back into the game, as substitute Alex Aso headed into post a delivered cross into the box.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving Kotoko 7th in the league table with 35 points, whiles Legon Cities sits 15th with 28 points.
