Kotoko’s title hopes was hampered again, as they were beaten by Medeama SC on Sunday in the betPawa Ghana Premiere League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Kokoto were the better side in the opening minutes of the first half, but lacked in the final third of the field.
Medeama however, were clinical and punished the home team on the 13th minute of the match, to take the lead.
After going down by a goal to nil, Kotoko kept controlling the game but did not do enough to threaten their opponent.
The Porcupine Warriors continued mounting pressure on the visitors and came close to getting the equalizer on the 60th minute as Mfegue’s close range shot was save by Medeama goalkeeper Felix Kyei.
Meanwhile, Medeama doubled their lead on the 77th minute, as Vincent Atinga scored through a penalty spot-kick after Fordjour was brought down in the penalty box.
The results take Kotoko to 7th position on the league table, with a game in hand, whiles Medeama is placed 4th with 37 points after playing 23 matches.
In Dormaa, league leaders Aduana Stars were held to a 2-2 draw by Real Tamale United.
Despite dropping points, the Dormaa side still sit on top of the league table 40 points from 23 games.
