League leaders Aduana Stars strengthened their lead on top of the betPawa Ghana Premier League table with a narrow win against Accra Great Olympics on Sunday at Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
It was a tough contest as both teams played out a goalless draw in the first half.
However, Aduana managed to get the only goal of the game on the 53rd minute, after Frank Owusu capitalized on a goalkeeping error from Joseph Addo to give the Dormaa based club all three points.
Meanwhile at Tarkwa, Medeama SC also defeated Karela United by 1-0 to help them mount a title chase.
Medeama was awarded a penalty on the 26th minute after Theophilus was brought down in the 18-yard box, with Vincent Atinga giving them the lead from the spot.
The Tarkwa based club is now three points behind league leaders Aduana Stars, who have 47 points.
Accra Hearts of Oak also earned three points against Nsoatreman FC after beating them 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts took the lead on the 15th minute after the start of the first half through an own goal, before Yaw Baafi added the second on the 65th minute mark of the game.
Samuel Ofori pulled one back for the away team, but was not enough to get them any point.
Kotoku Royals who are bottom of the league table were also defeated 2-0 by Legon Cities.
A win against the Royals has given Legon Cities some hope of escaping relegation as they move up to 13th on the league log.
