Kumasi Asante Kotoko suffered another setback in the new Ghana Premier League season again on Saturday afternoon, after they lost 2-1 to Bibiani Gold Stars at Dun’s Park in Bibiani.
The Porcupine Warriors did not have the best start as they fell behind 17 minutes into the game due to goalkeeper Frederick Asare’s error, but they were fortunate as the goal was disallowed.
Bibiani Gold Stars were the superior team for the opening 45 minutes, but despite their few chances, the first half ended scoreless.
After the break, the home side took the lead again in the 59th minute, but the goal did not stand as the assistant referee flagged offside.
However, 6 minutes after Kamara’s goal was disallowed, Prince Owusu Kwabena gave Bibiani the deserved lead.
Five minutes later, Sheriff Mohammed gave Kotoko some hope of getting something out of the match, before Eric Bosomtwi’s wonderful long-range strike restored the lead for Bibiani Gold Stars in the 74th minute.
With just 16 minutes to end of the game, Prosper Ogum’s men tried to come back into the game, but the home side maintained their defensive structure and managed to take all three points.
The results mean Kotoko has only one point out of six, and will face Karela United in their next match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
