Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a 2-1 loss to Samartex at the Nsenkyire Stadium in Samreboi last Saturday afternoon.
The Phobians had travelled to the Nsenkyire Stadium hoping to maintain their form in their last game where they won 2-1 against Hearts of Lions.
Samartex after having a strong start, had their goal on the 26th-minute mark through Evans Osei Wusu who arrived in the penalty box to connect a cross from the right side.
It was a difficult afternoon for the Phobians as they had to work extra hard defensively to prevent the league leaders from going 2-0 up in the first half.
The second half was better for the Phobians as they looked more calm and composed with the ball and managed to get the equalizer in the 77th minute.
It was Hamza Issah, who quickly followed up Martin Karikari’s free-kick to put the ball in the net after Samartex goalkeeper failed to deal with the ball.
Four minutes later, Evans Osei Wusu again put his side in the lead after he fired a shot into the top corner of the goalpost to seal the win for them.
The results mean that Samartex occupy the top spot of the table with 42 points, two more than Nations FC, who is in second position.
At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s problems continued as they lost to Nations FC.
Kotoko had a good start to the game, as they were dominant in most of part of the first half but could not capitalize on the opportunities they created to take the lead.
However, the away side scored the only goal of the game in injury time before the break.
After creating numerous chances in the second half, the Porcupine Warriors could not find the equalizer, ending the game 1-0 in favour of Nations FC.
With two losses at home and two away from home, this marks Kotoko’s fourth straight league defeat.
