The Ministry of Transport, Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) have concluded on the reduction of transport fares by 15.3%.

In a statement signed by the General Secretaries of GPRTU and GRTCC, the directive which is expected to take effect from Monday, December 19, 2022, is a result of the recent reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

It added that the reduction became necessary to engage stakeholders to consider a review of the fares in line with the Administrative Instrument.

According to the statement, the reduction in the fares is supposed to cover Shared Taxis, Intra-City (Trotro), Inter-City (Long distance) and Haulage.

The statement further urged transport operators and commuters to comply with the new directive for the smooth running of the transport service.
