A grave digger and his accomplice have been jailed for illegally dealing in human skulls.
Abdul Razak Mohammed, 49, a grave digger at Awudome Cemetery, was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Dansoman Circuit Court for selling a human skull. His buyer, Alex Frimpong, 24, a mason, received a five-year sentence.
Both men pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of human parts. Mohammed reportedly sold the skull to Frimpong for GH₵600, allegedly for rituals to help Frimpong secure more masonry contracts.
The court heard that Frimpong connected with Nana Attah, a fetish priest, on Facebook. Struggling with work, Frimpong sought spiritual help and was told by Attah to acquire a human skull for rituals.
On October 25, 2024, Mohammed delivered the skull to Frimpong at Awudome Cemetery. Hours later, police on patrol near Odorgonno Secondary School stopped Frimpong on his unregistered motorcycle.
A search revealed the skull in his backpack, leading to his arrest.
Frimpong implicated Mohammed, who was also arrested. The skull was preserved for further investigation.
Nana Attah, accused of ordering the skull, pleaded not guilty and is facing trial.
