The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has officially announced the 40th edition of National Farmers’ Day, set to take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement issued by the Ministry, it noted that the 2024 celebration will be held under the theme, “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,” emphasizing Ghana’s commitment to developing agricultural practices that tackle the challenges posed by climate change.
The Ministry further stated that the country will host Agrifest Ghana 2024, a five-day National Agricultural Fair running from November 4th to 8th, 2024.
Agrifest Ghana 2024 will showcase the rich diversity of Ghana’s agricultural sector, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and innovative ideas. Farmers and key stakeholders from across the country will gather to share insights and explore solutions to drive the future of agriculture in Ghana.
The celebrations will culminate in the National Awards Night Ceremony on November 8th, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will present awards to outstanding farmers across 16 categories. Prestigious awards, such as the Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, National Best Female Farmer, and National Best Physically Challenged Farmer, will be conferred to recognize their exceptional contributions to the agricultural sector.
With climate change presenting a growing threat to food security, this year’s focus on building climate-resilient agriculture is a timely and essential theme. It underscores the importance of adapting agricultural practices to ensure sustainability and food security in the face of environmental challenges.
The upcoming event promises to be a meaningful tribute to the country’s agricultural champions.
