It is has now become more important and critical for us to plant more trees as a nation, the Member of Parliament for Mpraeso constituency, Davis Opoku Ansah has said.

The MP, during a tree planting ceremony at the St. Paul’s SHS in Asakraka – Kwahu said, it was a necessity to observe the Green Ghana Day to replenish the trees that have been deforested in our communities.

“We came simply to join hands with students and management of St. Paul’s SHS to observe the Green Ghana and it’s a day where Ghana uses to replenish the trees that has been cut off”.

Citing one of the solutions to tackle the growing concern of the global climate change issues, the MP added that, it has now become critical and important to plant more trees to address the challenges caused by Galamsey activities.

“I hope you have al heard of climate change. Gradually, the world is becoming warmer and it is important for us to do something about it. One of the solutions is to plant more trees and that is why this year, government through the Ministry of lands and natural resources is planting 20 million trees.

We want to commend the government for that bold initiative and we are praying that it sees the light of day. It’s not about us but the for our generation unborn, we don’t want to see a society where even its evening we all feel the heat, already, the heat we feel in Ghana is unbearable. Nevertheless, for us in Kwahu, it is also critical and important for us to continue to grow more trees. This is the best place you can ever enjoy good weather, so let’s all support and grow more trees and continue to make Kwahu the nicest weather in Ghana”, he said while speaking to Republic FM’s Andy Frimpong Manso on Saturday, June 11.
